27th Annual Marine Forum

This year the Marine Forum held its 27th annual event at the Mount Grace hotel in Magaliesburg on 4 and 5 May 2012.

The Forum is a gathering of both local and international insurers and reinsurers, as well as surveyors, salvors, recovery agents, attorneys, brokers and reinsurance brokers, who qualify for invitation by means of having previously presented a paper at the Forum.

The excellent hotel and conference facilities were filled to capacity with over 120 delegates in attendance.

The international nature of marine insurance was reflected in the speaker line-up with speakers coming from such varied locations as Liverpool, London, Moscow, Munich and Zurich, with strong local support.

The Forum has been accredited by the IISA for CPD hours and is in the process of sending out CPD certificates to the delegates that attended this year.

The main reason for the substantial support and continued success of the Forum is the volunteer organising committee comprising Hilton Adams, Mike Brews, Dave Keeling and Paul March, who give their free time to ensure that the content enhances the knowledge of all who attend and provides South African delegates with an unequalled opportunity to develop their international knowledge and contact base.

The Forum is currently the only event of this nature in South Africa and one of a very few similar events worldwide.
