InsureTalk3 – pure magic from start to finish

By: CN&COThe third instalment in CN&CO’s InsureTalk franchise proved to be as popular as the first two sessions, if not more so.A great speaker line-up representing various sectors of the insurance industry, plus some magical entertainment and an interesting discussion on sparkling wine, kept delegates glued to their computer monitors for the duration of the event. Those who registered received some great info and entertainment, as well as 2 CPD hours. Here’s what went down…

SHA’s Gareth Beaver shared some of his insights into the impact that the coronavirus has had on various classes of insurance.

Thokozile Mahlangu of the Insurance Institute of South Africa discussed the many ways in which the institute can help members in the development of their careers as well as the professionalisation of the insurance industry.

Garth de Klerk of the South African Insurance Crime Bureau spoke on the types of insurance fraud that are popular at the moment.

Candice Sutherland of iTOO delivered a talk on behalf of iTOO partner CIB. Her presentation covered some of the myriad cybercrime exposures faced by companies, and explored the ways in which Covid-19 has affected cybercrime.

Nasrin Salie of Santam prepared a comprehensive presentation on the role of ERM in the ‘new normal’, which was unfortunately scuppered by gremlins in technology. Her slides are available via Llewellyn (llewellyn@cnandco.com) if you are interested in going through them.

André Symes of Geansys Technologies dialled in from London to chat about the social impact of separation under lockdown and the way technology has responded to the ‘new normal’.

Amy Hopkins of Women’s Health and Paul Gerber of Colmant MCC discussed some interesting food and sparkling wine pairings. Delegates each received a R250 discount voucher from Colmant as a thank you for joining.

Last but not least, our MC and our entertainer… Simon Colman (top) once again proved to be a commensurate host of InsureTalk3, while mentalist Larry Soffer (bottom) blew delegates’ minds with his magic. In this photo he is seen bending a screwdriver in Simon’s hand!If you missed out on InsureTalk3, don’t stress.
