The following appointments have been made at BDO South Africa
Ferdie Schneider: Head of National Tax
Ferdie has over 20 years’ experience in Tax, specifically Indirect Tax and VAT. He has consulted to National Treasury on various aspects of public finance, has co-authored a textbook on VAT, was the editor of the Practical VAT Handbook and has written various technical articles for a range of business and tax publications. Ferdie co-chaired a VAT Credit Retail focus group with SARS to investigate direct attribution and VAT apportionment in the credit retail industry (2010) and is currently a member of the National SAICA VAT Committee. He holds an MCom in Economics, a Certificate in International Taxation and an MCom in South African and International Taxation.
Roxanna Nyiri: Head of Transfer Pricing
Roxanna has extensive transfer pricing experience both in a consulting and auditing role, consulting to large multinational enterprises on all aspects of transfer pricing. Roxanna is also extensively involved in assisting companies with group structuring and implementation for investment into Africa. She has experience on both sides of the market being a transfer pricing specialist for the ‘Big Four’ in South Africa, the US and Canada, as well as holding various financial positions in diverse industries.
Ashley Truscott: Head of Marketing
Ashley has 25 years’ experience in marketing and public relations, taking a particular interest in both strategy development and writing. She has worked for some of South Africa’s leading PR agencies, consulting to a range of clients, primarily in financial and professional services. Prior to joining BDO, she ran her own marketing consultancy, working with a range of professional services companies. She has also written case studies for Wits Business School.
Lana-Jane Pike: Head of Business Development
Lana-Jane Pike is a 360˚ business, programme, marketing and business development specialist. She has experience in a wide range of strategic marketing, project and programme management roles as well as sales support. Lana has worked in diverse industries including financial services, retail and entertainment, technology and professional services.
Hayden Quin: Director of Business Services Division, BDO Durban
Hayden has joined the Durban office as Director of Business Services Division after BDO acquired his five-year old Durban-based company, Quin Accounting, which specialised in bookkeeping and allied services for small and medium-sized businesses. Hayden has three years international experience, having worked in London at various financial institutions after completing his BCom, before returning to South Africa to complete his articles and qualify as a CA(SA).
