Private Client Holdings’ on a winning streak

Private Client Holdings’ winning streak continues with yet another industry award

Private Client Holdings has scooped no fewer than four industry awards this month, including the Financial Planning Institute’s prestigious ‘Financial Planner of the Year’ award and ‘Best Adviser Firm – South Africa’ at the International Adviser Best Practice Adviser Awards 2017 – an event where they also claimed top honours in two other categories.

Making his Mark

Mark MacSymon CFP®, a wealth manager at Private Client Holdings, was crowned ‘Financial Planner of the Year’ at a glitzy dinner held last night and attended by leading industry figures. The award is the highest accolade bestowed on financial planners in South Africa and it represents the very pinnacle of the profession.

The rigorous selection process pitted MacSymon against established industry leaders. They were tasked with presenting a case study and subjected to a tough panel interview, where – under immense pressure – they had to demonstrate their skills and expertise on topics as varied as legislation, industry trends and technical information. The judging panel also conducted site visits to the entrants’ practices where they scrutinised business systems and management procedures.

MacSymon, a dedicated young dad whose passion for running has taken him all over the world, describes winning the award as “an overwhelming privilege and honour.” He sees it as “evidence of the quality and resilience of the financial plans prescribed by the wealth management team at Private Client Holdings.”

Like a true financial planner, MacSymon already has his eye on the future. “Changes to the regulatory framework are influencing how we deliver financial advice to our clients and businesses are having to remodel themselves in response to these shifts. We’re not going to shy away from these new challenges because we believe that the new regulations will improve our industry and further protect our customers.”

Three’s a crowd

At the International Adviser awards, in addition to being chosen as ‘Best Adviser Firm – South Africa,’ Private Client Holdings topped the charts in two sub-categories: ‘Excellence in Professional Development’ and ‘Excellence in Business Strategy’. The International Adviser Best Practice Adviser Awards acknowledge global adviser excellence and are open to authorised financial adviser / wealth management firms around the world who compete for the awards in their respective regions. The rigorous application process puts firms to the test and demands true leadership as well as a deep-seated commitment to innovation and development.

Grant Alexander, director of Private Client Holdings, believes that the flurry of prizes is testimony to Private Client Holdings’ unique value proposition. “Our passionate team of like-minded professionals is totally committed to nurturing the wealth of our private clients and their families. Because all of our services are in-house we’re able to be highly efficient and agile.”

Alexander is equally convinced that the firm’s recent merger with the tax practitioners Kirkman Lanfear is another vital bow in the quiver. “With an increase in complaints against SARS and a tax landscape that is changing by the day, our new tax division gives us the edge we need over our boutique competitors,” he concludes.
