GIB group adds two senior appointments to strengthen its growth strategy

GIB Group

The GIB Group has announced two appointments which will augment the company’s accelerated organic growth strategy.

Guy Jameson has been appointed as Sales Operations Leader focusing on new business development and marketing.

His insurance broking industry career spans more than 30 years, during which time he fulfilled several roles, taking him to the European, Asian, and African markets. Guy spent approximately 20 years coordinating and leading the growth strategy of Alexander Forbes and, subsequently, Marsh where he excelled in driving the new business strategy of both businesses in the institutional and retail space.

Tanya van der Westhuizen joins the group as head of its newly formed Renewable Energy Division and will be based at GIB’s Western Cape offices.

“Renewable energy is a core issue facing South Africa and the world. We recognised the importance of having the requisite skills in place to support our clients’ requirements as the move to greener energy resources gains momentum,” says Jurie Erwee, GIB Group CEO.

Tanya, who was previously with Marsh, brings 26 years’ experience, much of which is renewable energy-based, where her focus has been on wind farms, solar plants, hydro, biomass, biogas, and battery storage facilities. More recently, a surge in requirements for rooftop solar energy installations has emerged where Tanya is able to assist clients with bespoke insurance solutions.

Additionally, she has been closely involved in advising numerous clients in Rounds 2, 3 and 4 of the REIPP projects and has negotiated many ‘cradle to grave’ programmes with both local and international markets. Her focus has been on guiding clients and lenders through complex transaction periods, dealing with, inter alia, Insurance advisors and project attorneys.

“Both appointments are aligned with our growth strategy. Both Guy and Tanya bring extensive experience and knowledge to our business, and we are confident that they will bring value internally to amplify and support our plans and externally to our clients,” says Erwee.

Both appointments are effective 01 November 2021.
