PSG Wealth is pleased to announce that Riëth Schnetler from PSG Wealth Rietondale Soutpansberg Road in Pretoria has won Top Relationship Manager in Intellidex’s Top Private Banks and Wealth Manager Awards. The 2020 edition was hosted virtually at the end of July.

According to Intellidex “The individual relationship manager award was introduced in 2019 and has been welcomed by the industry. This award recognises relationship managers’ hard work and importance in building long-lasting and trusting client relationships. Clients place a high premium on good relationship managers and often mention that it is their relationship manager that makes them stay with an institution.”

Riëth placed second for this award last year and is thrilled to be the winning recipient for 2020.

“I’m honoured and so proud to be part of this,” she says. “I am so humbled to realise through this that my clients, who are the most important factor in this award, attach so much value to me and the service I deliver. I am privileged to be able to live out my passion, to advise people holistically, every day.”

Being real and approachable forms an important part of a client-adviser relationship

Riëth says clients need to feel important and that they are worth your time, and that you show a sincere interest in their financial matters. “I have a motto that there are certain basic concepts of investments that any person who is serious enough to seek professional advice, deserves and should know and understand. Therefore, I take time and effort to ensure that my clients get this advice and knowledge from me. A holistic approach to financial planning is also a crucial part for long-lasting client/adviser relationships in my practice,” she says.

Covid-19 keeps the challenge on

The current landscape has certainly been challenging, especially at the beginning of the pandemic, with the market decline and the financial uncertainty that most people were facing. “I found that most clients realised the necessity of their financial plan and only opted to cancel contributions or make withdrawals as a very last resort,” she says. “Regular contact and updates on the market and the pandemic kept us engaged and revealed that most clients understood the circumstances and felt more comfortable just to hear from their financial adviser.”

Knowing there is a team at PSG working hard to deliver the best possible outcome to clients really counts. Riëth even received a few messages from clients, to say they are thinking of PSG during the market challenges too.

Keeping up with the times

When Riëth was asked about the best advice she could give to clients, especially women, to reach their retirement goals or savings’ dreams, she shared her passion for financial independence.

“I believe women should be taught from a young age that it is perfectly in order - and in fact a necessity - to have their own financial plans and goals. The value of starting early and saving consistently can never be underestimated. In today’s world, as women are building careers and embracing their earning potential, they must also accept the responsibility of effectively managing their finances. This includes to grow your financial intelligence and take control of your financial future,” she concludes.
