A Legacy of Advice: How one family is guiding generations toward financial security
Momentum Financial Executive Financial Adviser Salomi Holtzhausen shares why – for her family – financial advice has felt like a calling.
For our family, financial planning has never been just a profession – it’s a passion passed down through generations. What began with my husband’s rise through the ranks of Momentum laid the foundation for a tradition rooted in purpose for our family – all of whom today work within the financial advice business.
My husband, Louis’ journey from Financial Planner to Regional Manager, Provincial Manager, Head of Brokers, Franchise Owner, and eventually Head of Momentum Sales was what set the ball rolling, with his leadership, vision and commitment to financial empowerment inspiring me and our family to follow in his footsteps.
Building a multigenerational tradition
I began my own career at Momentum as a consultant, later becoming a financial planner and eventually a franchise owner – where I had the privilege of mentoring young advisers entering the profession. Today, I serve as a senior financial adviser, still helping clients build and protect their financial dreams, with a deep belief in the value of advice.
This belief runs throughout our family. My daughter Simone, who initially pursued a career in Marketing and Education, eventually joined me at Momentum, drawn by the impact she had witnessed growing up. She now operates under my supervision, combining professional skill with the values of trust and long-term care she was raised with.
Her cousin Ansunette – also mentored by me – has become a senior financial adviser in her own right, exemplifying the principles of integrity, hard work and client-first thinking that define our family’s approach. And after a successful international modelling career, my eldest daughter, Michelle, joined us too – bringing fresh perspective and energy into the fold.
The changing face of financial advice across generations
Our story is not only about legacy, but about the evolution of advice – and the importance of adapting to meet the needs of an ever-changing world. Financial planning isn’t simply about numbers. It’s about relationships and the ability to walk alongside clients at every stage of their lives.
Each generation brings a new lens to wealth. While older clients often seek stability and certainty, younger generations prioritise flexibility, independence and growth. Understanding these differences allows us to develop an approach that bridges generations – honouring traditional values while incorporating modern solutions.
We aim to help families build financial frameworks that evolve with life’s transitions, while still staying true to their long-term vision.
The values we practise – integrity, responsibility and long-term thinking – have shaped every aspect of our work. I’ve always believed that financial confidence comes from education and empowerment. My goal is not to dictate decisions, but to support clients in making informed ones. At Momentum, this belief in partnership over product is what sets our approach apart. We don’t see advice as transactional but rather, transformational.
A legacy rooted in love
From Louis laying the foundation to each of us walking the same path, our journey has always been about the families we’ve served, the dreams we’ve helped make possible, and the futures we’ve helped protect.
We don’t just talk numbers – we help clients realise their goals, create security and build legacies that endure. And we do so with care, consistency, and compassion.
If I had to sum it up, I’d say this: Great financial advice isn’t just about money – it’s about guiding generations toward opportunity, security and a legacy that lasts.
