AIE sponsors looking forward to conference
The African Insurance Exchange is just around the corner. The conference, a highlight on the insurance calendar, takes place from 27 to 30 July 2025 at Sun City and via live broadcast. We caught up with a few of the sponsors to get a sense of what they’re feeling ahead of the conference:
Spiros Fatouros, CEO of Marsh McLennan Africa, says the conference is a vital fixture on the insurance calendar, serving as a convergence point for industry leaders to address the evolving landscape of risk.
“In a world where organisations face unprecedented challenges – from political risks to technological disruptions – the conference provides the ideal space for collaboration and knowledge sharing. It is also a vital platform for sharing insights and best practices on navigating the complexities of risk in an interconnected world.”
Fatouros says the conference theme “The Baobab Advantage: Multifaceted Growth and Continuous Evolution” resonates deeply with Marsh.
“The baobab tree symbolises resilience and adaptability – qualities that are essential in today’s rapidly changing environment,” he says. “As a global leader in risk management, we recognise that organisations must embrace diversity and interconnectedness to thrive amidst challenges such as technological disruptions and climate change.
“Our commitment to growing a diverse workforce allows us to draw on a wide range of perspectives and experiences, enabling us to innovate and adapt effectively. Just as the baobab tree provides sustenance and shelter, we aim to support our clients and communities by offering solutions that promote sustainable growth and build resilience.”
Fatouros says he is particularly looking forward to engaging with thought leaders and industry peers on pressing issues that affect our sector.
“We are especially eager to explore discussions around technological advancements and their implications for the insurance industry, specifically in the African context,” he says. “We believe that by bringing together diverse voices and expertise, the AIE empowers the insurance industry to adapt, innovate and ultimately contribute to a more resilient future for all.”
Charles Nortje, MD at Old Mutual Insure, says OMI recognises the importance of stability and adaptability in an ever-evolving landscape.
“Much like the baobab tree, we have deep roots in the industry, backed by over 180 years of experience,” he says. “This foundation allows us to provide strong, sustainable solutions while continuously evolving to meet the changing needs of our customers.
“This also aligns with our internal 2025 strategic theme, ‘Resilience in Motion’, which perfectly reflects our commitment to adapting in a dynamic environment. This enduring spirit enables us to leverage technology, expertise and strategic partnerships not only to sustain growth, but also to lead transformative change in the industry.”
Nortje says AIE 2025 presents a valuable opportunity to engage with industry leaders, gain insights into emerging trends and collaborate on strategies that drive resilience and forge bilateral partnerships that will help facilitate the growth of the insurance industry.
“We are particularly excited about discussions around digital transformation, risk mitigation, evolving regulatory landscape and how we can remain resilient during challenging economic times,” he adds. “These conversations will help shape the future of insurance in Africa and reinforce our mission to provide innovative, future-fit solutions.”
OMI will be actively participating in discussions, networking sessions and interactive workshops to exchange ideas with fellow industry professionals.
“Our goal is to develop meaningful connections and share insights that add value to the broader insurance community.”
Nortje says AIE is a critical platform for shaping the future of insurance in Africa.
“It brings together key stakeholders to discuss pressing industry challenges, explore new opportunities, and drive collective growth,” he says. “In an environment where resilience and adaptability are crucial, the conference provides a space for collaboration, learning and innovation, ensuring that insurers remain well-equipped to support clients, communities and economies through change.”
Dean Baker, Regional Sales Lead SADC at Infobip, says the theme of AIE 2025 is more than just a concept; it reflects Infobip’s core mission.
“Just as the baobab tree symbolises strength and adaptability, Infobip is committed to being a reliable, innovative partner for businesses navigating digital transformation,” he says. “We resonate deeply with this theme as we help organisations embrace continuous evolution in the ever-changing digital landscape.”
AIE 2025 presents a unique opportunity for Infobip to engage with industry leaders and exchange insights.
“We’re particularly excited about sharing our vision for the future of digital interactions in insurance,” says Baker. “Through omnichannel communication and AI-powered solutions, we’re helping insurers enhance customer engagement and streamline operations. This conference is an invaluable space for learning, collaboration, and discovering new opportunities.”
Infobip’s presence at the event will be interactive and immersive.
“We’ll showcase our platform with live demonstrations, host informative sessions, and offer personalised consultations,” Baker says. “More importantly, we want to listen actively to understand the challenges insurers face and explore how our solutions can help them thrive.”
Collaboration, progress
Recognising the importance of AIE 2025 on the insurance calendar, Baker highlights its role in encouraging collaboration and driving industry progress.
“This event brings together key players to discuss trends, challenges, and opportunities. It’s a hub for knowledge sharing, networking, and staying ahead of digital advancements that will define the future of insurance. As the industry continues to evolve, AIE remains a crucial space for innovation and transformation.”
