Leadership Transition at Futuregrowth

Futuregrowth Asset Management is pleased to announce the appointment of Vuyolwethu Nogantshi as its incoming Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective July 2025. Nogantshi will partner with Shaun Harris, the current CEO of Futuregrowth, who will transition into the role of Chief Investment Officer (CIO) following Andrew Canter’s step-down as CIO at the end of October 2025. Canter will step-down from operational duties, but will play a continuing role in the investment process to ensure a smooth transition and continuity.

Nogantshi, who recently resigned from Absa Bank Limited, brings more than two decades of experience in the financial services sector, with a strong background in investment management, risk oversight, and client engagement. He is currently serving notice ahead of his transition to Futuregrowth.

After qualifying as an actuary in 2011, Nogantshi held leadership roles at Allan Gray, Nedgroup Investments, and Alexforbes, contributing to key strategic initiatives. As an Executive Director of Allan Gray South Africa and Allan Gray Life, and Head of Institutional Client Services, he oversaw strategic leadership, risk management, financial oversight, and regulatory compliance. Most recently, as a Principal at Absa, he led three businesses within Absa Corporate and Investment Bank’s Markets division—Retail Structured Products, Exchange Traded Products, and Fund-Linked Derivatives—driving financial performance and operational excellence.

“We are excited to welcome Nogantshi to Futuregrowth. His expertise, leadership, and vision make him the ideal person to partner with me as we build on Futuregrowth’s legacy, drive innovation, and deepen our impact on South Africa’s investment landscape,” says Shaun Harris, current CEO of Futuregrowth.

Harris’s track record in private credit as the Managing Director of Old Mutual Specialised Finance, and most recently in multijurisdictional financial products as Head of the Institutional Client Group for Rand Merchant Banks Global Markets division positions him well to lead the investment team and ensure the firm continues to deliver sustainable, long-term value for clients.

Futuregrowth acknowledges the contributions of Andrew Canter, who has been with the firm for 28 years and has served as CIO for 17 years. Under his leadership, Futuregrowth established itself as a leading fixed-interest asset manager, developmental investor, and responsible investor in South Africa. His tenure has been marked by consistent client returns, a strong reputation for sustainable investment solutions, and a commitment to fostering economic development.

The Board expresses its sincere gratitude for Canter’s leadership and dedication. His planned step-down allows for an orderly transition, ensuring Futuregrowth’s continued stability and success.
